We caught up with her as she shared a few intimate moments and insights with our team.
Q&A with Clarisse Bayani
What inspired you to become a drone light show pilot?
"I was drawn to the novelty of the field, it's a unique blend of mechanics, technology, and art," Clarisse explained. With a background in mechanical engineering and a passion for performance and creative expression, piloting drone light shows became the perfect intersection of her skills and interests. "It felt like a great way to contribute technically while being part of something artistic and innovative."
How does it feel to be Pinnacle's first woman drone light show pilot?
"It's definitely cool, and I do feel a sense of pride," she admitted. But she's quick to add that she doesn't let the title define her. "What matters most is showing up and doing my best. I'm focused on learning, growing into the role, and doing good work."
Career Excitement and First Impressions
What excites you most about this chapter in your career?
"I'm most excited to gain hands-on experience in this new industry and to work with electronics again," she said. "I've always enjoyed collaborating on creative projects, so I'm looking forward to being part of a team that pulls off unique shows."
Do you remember the first time you saw a drone light show?
"A few years ago, I saw a video of a drone show that formed a Chinese dragon," she recalled. "I replayed the short clip several times, in awe of the fluidity of its movements." For someone used to drones being limited to aerial footage and deliveries, seeing them used for artistic storytelling was a revelation.
Beyond the Sky: Personal Passions
What brings you joy or sparks your creativity outside of work?
From dragon boating and biking to kayaking, hiking, and golf, she stays active in many ways. But creativity also flows through her love of music. "I enjoy sharing songs and playlists and recording covers with friends. I sing and play both bass and guitar."
If you could design your dream drone show, what would it look like?
"I'd center it around music — maybe an alternative rock album or a custom playlist," she said. One visually inspired idea comes from her love of the game Valorant, specifically the Evori Dreamwings finisher. "It shows outlines of animals against a starry night sky. It would translate beautifully into a drone show."
Looking Forward
